August was one for the books at Funtastic! As summer wound down and backpacks were packed for the new school year, we filled our calendar with events that sparked creativity, built memories, and got the whole family moving. From glow-in-the-dark celebrations to colorful craft days, this month was packed with fun for kids of all ages.
Whether you were front and center at every event or just catching up now, here’s your VIP pass to all the highlights from our August adventures.
Glow Party – August 1st
We kicked off the month with our Back-to-School Glow Party. The space came alive under black lights, and the glow sticks were a hit with kids and parents alike. Bright neon colors lit up the room as families celebrated the start of the new school year together.
The glow party was all about fun — from dancing and playing in the glow to enjoying the high-energy atmosphere. It was the perfect way to say goodbye to summer and hello to a new season of learning and play.
Jellyfish Counting Craft – August 12th
On August 12th, we went “under the sea” with our Jellyfish Counting Craft. Kids made their own wiggly, jiggly jellyfish friends, each one decorated with colorful tentacles. This creative activity was a great way for little ones to get hands-on while working on counting skills.
Tables were filled with craft supplies, and children proudly took their jellyfish creations home to show family and friends.
Yarn String Painting Craft – August 13th
August 13th brought something a little different — Yarn String Painting. Instead of paintbrushes, kids dipped yarn into paint and used it to create their artwork. This hands-on craft encouraged creativity and gave everyone a chance to make one-of-a-kind designs.
It was a colorful day at Funtastic, with each painting turning out completely unique.
Pool Noodle Fish Craft – August 19th
On August 19th, our morning craft session was all about diving into creativity with the Pool Noodle Fish Craft. From 10:30 to 11:30 AM, little crafters turned ordinary pool noodles into goofy, wavy fish friends.
With bright colors and fun textures, these fish creations were bursting with personality. Some had big, silly eyes, while others had long, flowing fins. The best part? Each fish was as unique as its maker, and kids loved seeing their imaginations come to life.
Paper Plate Shark Craft – August 20th
The next day, August 20th, was all about jaws and fins with our Paper Plate Shark Craft from 10:30 to 11:30 AM. Young makers transformed simple paper plates into “jaw-some” sharks, complete with big teeth and creative designs.
This craft had everyone giggling as the sharks took shape — some looked fierce, while others turned out downright silly. It was a fin-tastic way for kids to explore creativity while making something they could proudly show off.
Fizzy Art Craft – August 26th
The following morning, August 20th, kids came back for another ocean-themed adventure: the Paper Plate Shark Craft. From 10:30 to 11:30 AM, children turned ordinary paper plates into “jaw-some” sharks.
Some sharks looked fierce with sharp, bold teeth, while others turned out more on the silly side, complete with funny eyes and bright colors. No two looked alike, which made walking around the room feel like an aquarium full of imagination. This craft was not only fun but also gave kids a chance to cut, glue, and assemble their own designs, building fine motor skills while having a blast.
Rainy Day Sensory Craft – August 27th
We closed out the month on August 27th with a cozy, creative activity: the Rainy Day Sensory Craft. From 10:30 to 11:30 AM, kids made a sensory project designed to sound and feel just like a rainy day.
This craft was all about exploring textures, sounds, and calming sensory play. Children loved shaking and moving their creations to hear the “raindrops.” It was the perfect way to end August — a quieter, imaginative activity that helped kids wind down while still having fun.
Why We Love Our Monthly Events
At Funtastic, events like these are about more than just an afternoon of fun. They give kids a chance to try new things, explore their creativity, and interact with others in a safe, friendly environment.
From the bright lights of the Glow Party to the hands-on nature of our crafts, August was a month full of opportunities for families to make memories together.
